THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: "Every time my film fares well in the State, I get a pleasant shock," said actor Vikram at the Sri Chitra Poor Home in the city on Monday.

The Kollywood star, who stirred up a rage among movie buffs across South India with his portrayal of Remo, the ramp walk model in `Anniyan,' created a flutter when he decided to have lunch with the inmates of the home.

Predictably, for the home's 300-odd inmates it turned out to be an experience of a lifetime. Even as they jostled for autographs and prodded him to pose with them for the cameras, the actor made it a point not to disappoint any one. The milling photographers too had a treat for the cameras as Vikram served `payasam' to the inmates who had gathered inside the mess hall and answered their queries.

A 10-year-old wanted him to convey her regards to `Sneha (actor) chechi.' Vikram, who initially looked bemused, assured her that he would pass on the message. The national award winner in turn requested the inmates to cheer for him whenever he appeared on screen.

Vikram, who is in the city as part of his 100-day celebrations of `Anniyan' organised by Thameen release, the distributors of the film, also took time to interact with the members of his fans association.

A special screening of `Anniyan' was arranged for the inmates of the home at Remya theatre in the evening.
