Colombo, LTTE trade charges

COLOMBO: The Sri Lankan military and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) on Tuesday accused each other of opening fire in a sensitive eastern sea belt. The Army said LTTE cadres "directed fire at a naval boat" from a rebel-held pocket in the Trincomalee district. The LTTE, for its part, charged the Navy with opening fire on coastal villages that are under its control.
