IT lab to help farmers launched

HYDERABAD:
Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy has called upon research institutions and organisations associated with farmers' welfare to extend their help in solving the problems faced by the farming community.
The Minister inaugurated `IT for agriculture lab' set up by the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in association with Media Lab Asia at the Institute's campus here on Monday.
The lab was set up to facilitate effective usage of e-Sagu, an IT-based extension system wherein scientists would examine digital and text photographs of farms. He said the Government's efforts alone were not enough to reach out to all sections of farmers.
