BANGALORE: The former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda has revealed his true colours by recognising his son, H.D. Kumaraswamy, as the leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) Legislature Party, suspended party leader Siddaramaiah has said. Therefore, Mr. Deve Gowda deserves to be expelled from the party, he said. The national executive committee of the party should take immediate action against Mr. Deve Gowda, he told presspersons here on Tuesday along with two other suspended party MLAs, H.C. Mahadevappa and B.R. Patil. "Mr. Deve Gowda's grand political design is there for everyone to see now that he has blessed his son," Mr. Siddaramaiah said. Mr. Deve Gowda and his political protégés have no moral right to speak of secularism as all of them have joined hands with the communal BJP for obvious reasons. "The BJP has been politically honest enough to disclose its communal agenda. But the hidden agenda of Mr. Deve Gowda and his family is more dangerous to democracy than the designs of the BJP," he said. He accused Mr. Deve Gowda of not keeping his word in his political career. Mr. Deve Gowda had repeatedly said that he wanted his "boys" to climb to the top of the political ladder in the State. They were overwhelmed thinking that they were also his boys, Mr. Siddaramaiah said. During the election campaign, Mr. Deve Gowda had projected him as the prospective Chief Minister of the State. All his claims about the mental agony he had undergone owing to his son's decision to join hands with the BJP to form the Government now sounded hollow.
Prakash's stand deplored
Referring to Mr. Prakash, Mr. Siddaramaiah wondered how a sensitive and learned person like him sided with Mr. Deve Gowda at the cost of his self-respect. In comparison, the former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia has taken a better political stand, he said. Mr. Prakash has to assert himself and take decisions in the larger interests of the State and the party, he said.
