Teachers warned against harassing students
Special Correspondent
Bangalore:
With the number of instances of sexual harassment of students by teachers increasing, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Tuesday issued a stern warning that the Government will punish those indulging in such pernicious acts.
Replying to J.C. Madhuswamy (Janata Dal-U) in the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Kumaraswamy said the Government will take severe action against such teachers, irrespective of the institutions they work in, including Navodaya Schools.
Mr. Madhuswamy and Vatal Nagaraj (Kannada Chaluvali) raised the issue of sexual harassment of girl students by teachers, which had led some of them to commit suicide.
Mr. Nagaraj later staged a walkout stating that the Chief Minister had given a "general reply."
