BANGALORE: The Government will take action against the five police officials arrested during the Lokayukta raids on March 14 and 15, Minister for Law Basavaraj Horatti said in the Legislative Council on Tuesday. Replying to a debate on the Lokayukta raids, he said the Government has taken note of the suggestions made by members. It will withdraw the Chief Minister's medal given to one of the five officials. It will constitute a House Committee to go into the details of the matter if the members of the House want, he added. Participating in the discussion, B.K. Chandrashekhar (Congress) said the general opinion is that political interference in transfers of officials is widespread. The Government should take steps to stop it. He questioned the validity of confidential reports from senior officers. Leader of the Opposition H.K. Patil urged the Government to introduce the "Karnataka administrative functioning regulation Bill", the draft copy of which has been approved by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, to curb corruption. He suggested that the Government establish fast-track courts to deal with cases pertaining to raids on the premises of government officials and complete legal proceedings within three months. M.P. Nadagouda, Basavaraj Bommai, V.S. Ugrappa, Aravind Limbavali, Srikante Gowda, `Mukhyamantri' Chandru, Sushil G. Namoshi, Munivenkata Reddy and A.M. Hindasageri spoke.
