Security concerns were raised over holding the trial in Sessions Court Complex in Bangalore

BANGALORE:
The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday allowed a petition by the State Government and transferred the trial of 12 Tamil activists from the Sessions Court here to a Special Court.
The court had directed the State to place before it the names of the presiding officers of the Special Courts located near the sprawling open-air jail in Parappana Agrahara on the outskirts of Bangalore.
The court gave this direction after Special Public Prosecutor S. Dore Raju filed an application urging it to shift or transfer the trial of Tamil activists from a Sessions Court to a Special Court. Security concerns were raised over holding the trial in the Sessions Court Complex here.
The trial of the Tamil activists, who are facing charges of secession and of waging a war against the State, has commenced.
