NEW DELHI: With the onset of summer, the Licensing Department of the Delhi police has issued notices to all swimming pools in the Capital to get their licences renewed or get new ones before resuming operations. The Department has also warned people to ensure that they use the services of only those swimming pools that have duly approved licences.
Safety
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Licensing) Arun Kampani said the people should satisfy themselves first about whether the pools fulfil all parameters of safety and hygiene. "In case they find any discrepancy in this regard, they should inform their local police station about the same so that proper action can be taken against those violating the norms," he said. In order to get new licences, or to get them renewed, the pools will have to get the quality of their water tested, show recommendation from the swimming coach of Sports Authority of India and obtain trade licence from the civic body concerned.
Instructors
In addition, they would have to fulfil all safety measures like providing life jackets, life-guards, artificial resuscitator, oxygen cylinders, elevated chairs for life guards, life saving instruction chart, safety/ sanitary rule board, qualified instructors, first aid box, medical attendant, telephone facility and proper lighting.
