Coimbatore: The Collector, S. Kosalaraman, and the District Inspection Cell Officer, V. Subramanian, conducted a meeting with the representatives of various departments recently in which the Cell pointed out common and frequent defects that led to grievances and complaints. Representatives from various departments such as education, commercial tax, transport, medical, public health, agriculture and animal husbandry attended the meeting.The complaints were largely from the members of the public relating to unresolved grievances and secondly by employees and retired government servants. The meeting discussed a case of inordinate delay in disbursing Special Provident Fund money to a retired school teaching staff of the Sarcar Samakulam panchayat union. The officials pointed out that a sum of Rs. 13,047 was due to the employee who retired in 2000. Though the money was withdrawn in 2002 it was not settled to the retired employee till now. The meeting then decided to recommend for initiating criminal action against all those responsible. Other issue discussed was in respect of Rs. 10 crore arrears due from 54 assesses of commercial tax in Thudialur circle, which was pending for several years. It was then decided to initiate measures for realising these arrears.
