Women told to become entrepreneurs

Staff Correspondent

HUBLI: Women should realise their inner strength and put it to use to become economically independent, M.V. Alagawadi, Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development of Karnataka (CEDOK), has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating a four-day workshop and training programme on "Gender equity through enterprise development" organised by the Research Centre for Women's Studies of Karnatak University here on Tuesday.

Economic independence will help women in empowering themselves socially and politically, he said.

Mr. Alagawadi felt that universities should have an entrepreneurship cell to train students and women to become entrepreneurs.

He also listed several organisations that can be approached by women interested in taking up self-employment.

Jayashri, Director of the centre, welcomed the gathering.
