CHENNAI: Got an appetite for entertainment? Check out `Today's Special' at Nikki's. Not today, though ... It's on March 24 at Sivagami Pethachi auditorium, Mylapore. An evening of drama and music, `Today's Special' is a collection of five sketches using a restaurant as the common theme. The plays don't have anything to do with the restaurant, but the folks at `tsmgo' Sundar and Andrea adapted it to suit the theme. So, you have three plays by Chennai's favourite playwright for lighthearted humour Neil Simon. A Scotsman Steve, currently in the city, is debuting his play Scoring, which captures the locker room jock sense of humour. And, finally, there's Beyond Measures, where drama ensues between the two women in it. All the actors fit into the restaurant, says Andrea. She plays the singer at Nikki's, and there's a guitar and sax to accompany her crooning as part of the restaurant band. Andrea's written a few lines in song that are strategically tucked into the plays. These are set to music by herself and Neil Mukherjee. The two-hour show is presented by ITC Ladies Social and Welfare Society as a fundraiser to support various non-governmental organisations, including The Banyan and Udavam Karangal. Tickets are available at Landmark, Odyssey and Fruitshop on Greams Road outlets and are priced at Rs.1,000, Rs.500, Rs.300, Rs.200 and Rs.150. `Today's Special' begins at 7.30 p.m.
