CHENNAI: The dance drama on Nammalwar's Pasurams, directed by Krishnakumari Narendran, saw a packed auditorium at Sir Sivaswamy Kalalaya School in Mylapore. Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan, member secretary of the Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Manram, which sponsored the programme, said that the dance drama series is being organised for the first time. We invite the participants to give us a gist of the stories, from which the best stories selected by the committee are staged, he said. The dancers were led by Nrithya Jagannathan, a researcher of South East Asian dance forms in the Department of South East Asian Studies at the University of Madras. Nrithya Jagannathan played the lead role of `Parankusa Nayaki' with 14 other participants who held the audience spellbound from start to finish. Earlier, P.B. Sreenivos, president of the Mandram, and R. Kasinathan, Commissioner, Department of Art and Culture, lit the traditional lamp to inaugurate the dance drama.
