CHENNAI: Two elderly couples, travelling by the Kurla-Madurai Express, fell victims to `biscuit bandits' on Wednesday morning. Anantharaman (64) and Annapoorani Eswari (54), and Chandran (80) and Annalakshmi (75), travelling in a reserved compartment, were found unconscious by a ticket examiner at Arakkonam in the early hours of Wednesday. They were going to Rameswaram from Pune. As the couple did not respond to treatment at the Arakkonam junction, they were brought to Chennai by the Cheran Express and admitted to the general hospital.
Loss not known
The Railway Police said they became unconscious after drinking fruit juice mixed with sedative given to them by three fellow passengers. The loss of valuables was not immediately known, as the passengers had not regained consciousness till Wednesday evening.
