Sanitation awareness drive gets under way

Madikeri: "Swachata Andolana," a 40-day drive to spread awareness about sanitation in Kodagu district, was flagged off at the Fort here on Wednesday by Subodh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, and K. Sundar Naik, Chief Executive Officer of the Kodagu Zilla Panchayat.

A bus belonging to the Department of Information will travel to 80 villages in the district, covering 47 gram panchayats in the three taluks of Kodagu.

A team of artistes, including those from Sakshara Cauvery here, are involved in the campaign.

They will present skits, street plays and render songs to highlight the importance of sanitation.

Film shows too will be organised to create awareness about sanitation.
