ELURU: Tension prevailed at Polavaram in West Godavari district on Wednesday as police disallowed a rally proposed to be organised by the CPI-ML (New Democracy) and its frontal organisation All India Kisan Mazdoor Sabha, demanding fair deal to the oustees of Indira Sagar Project. The police clamped down prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Cr PC, preventing the rally. The protesters laid a siege to the MRO office in protest against denial of permission for their programme. The programme was converted into a protest march, denouncing the `anti-democratic' action of the police.
