KARIMNAGAR : Irked by the anti-people policies of the CPI (Maoist) and their gruesome killings without any reasons, naxalite victims, former militants and surrendered naxalties have constituted an Anti-Maoist committee in the north Telangana districts to counter the naxalites' dubious acts. The Anti-Maoist committee was constituted by the former naxalite Paka Ramesh, who has been appointed as the north Telangana zonal committee secretary. District-level committees have also been constituted in Karimnagar, Warangal, Adilabad and Nizamabad districts. Incidentally, they have also appointed a spokesperson. On Monday night, the committee had hung an effigy of the Maoist DCS Ramesh in Kamalapur mandal headquarters.
No links with police
In a note left at the site, Paka Ramesh stated they had constituted a committee to wipe out the Maoists who were killing innocent people in the name of revolution. Talking to The Hindu over telephone on Wednesday, committee spokesperson Sanjeev said they had no links with the police. However, he said they would seek the assistance of police to conduct raids on the naxalites in the forest region. With an aim at conducting covert operations, they had already made several youth join the naxalites, he said. Their committee members, who are in the dalams, have occupied various positions and were waiting for an opportunity to carry out a major attack. To a query, he said that they were unarmed and would sacrifice their lives for the cause of society and development of the villages, which has been hampered due to the naxal presence. He also alleged that the naxalites have lost public sympathy and were killing innocent poor people branding them as informers without any reason in order to make their presence felt. He warned that they would kill the naxalite family members if they resorted to mindless violence. He charged that the Maoists were making money in the name of revolution and ill-treating lower caste community members. He also said the rural youth were scared of naxalites because they were branding them as informers. When contacted, the Superintendent of Police Devendra Singh Chauhan said there was no need for the police to constitute an Anti-Maoist committee. At present, the Maoists are on the run in the district because of their anti-people policies. He said that the some naxalite victims might have constituted the committee due to the heartburn and sufferings caused by the naxalites.
