House panel to probe Republic Forge case

HYDERABAD: Major Industries Minister J. Geeta Reddy on Wednesday conceded the demand of P. Janardhan Reddy (Congress) for appointing a House committee to go into the sale of assets of the defunct Republic Forge Company during the TDP regime.

She told Mr. Reddy that the company had been wound up and sold in 2001 for Rs. 14.47 crore. Mr. Reddy said the land, was valued at Rs. 60-70 crore. He alleged that the brother of a TDP Minister was involved in the transaction.

Jurala project

Major Industries Minister P. Lakmaiah assured C. Laxma Reddy (TRS) and others that the Government would take up with Karnataka the issue of completion of the rehabilitation of the displaced by December 2007 so that the Priyadarshini Jurala Project's full storage capacity of 11.94 tmc could be maintained.
