Autorickshaws directed to operate fare meters

KOLLAM: District Collector B. Sreenivas has given strict instructions to autorickshaw operators that they should not charge fares from passengers over and above what had been fixed afresh by the Government. In order to ensure the same, it is mandatory that autorickshaws operate their fare meters. The instruction was issued after a meeting with all concerned at the collectorate on Monday. Representatives of the autorickshaw unions, the Legal Metrology Department, the Regional Transport Office and the Police Department attended the meeting.
