These people have time and again clarified that they were in no way connected with the controversial publication, they said. With more than a hundred schools closed, and many hospitals and orphanages left in the lurch, the future of hundreds of orphaned children is at stake, they said.

    Situation `alarming'

Terming the situation in Kota `alarming,' they called upon the Union Government to interfere in the issue to safeguard human rights and secularism in the country.

They also wanted the State Government to take necessary action to save the lives of the non-resident Malayalis involved in the issue.
