THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Wednesday that there was no cover-up in the Crime Branch probe into the leak of SSLC question papers last year. Referring to the CBI submission before the High Court on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that the Government had nothing to hide in this matter. If it had anything to hide, it would not have readily agreed to a CBI inquiry. Saying that there was no report of leak of all the question papers last year, Mr. Chandy said the Government could not have assumed that all the question papers would have gone out and therefore cancelled the examination. "When we came to know that the question paper for an examination was leaked, we conducted that and the remaining examinations with new question papers. "We had not received any complaint that the question papers of previous examinations too had leaked out till the case was handed over to the CBI." He said that if there were information that all the questions papers had indeed been leaked out, the media and the student organisations would have come to know of it. The Chief Minister said that Principal Secretary (General Administration) Bharat Bhushan had conducted an inquiry into the complaint from the Students Federation of India (SFI) that the Inspector General of Police T.P. Senkumar had misbehaved with students, including girls, during the police action at the University College in Thiruvananthapuram recently. Mr. Bhushan's report fully exonerated the police officer. Moreover, the Principal Secretary had said that Mr. Senkumar should be complimented for the excellent handling of the situation, the Chief Minister pointed out.
