Foundation to organise mobile health clinics in villages

CHENNAI : Coimbatore-based Isha Foundation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sri Ramachandra Medical College to improve the standard of health in rural areas.

Minvalai Internet Exchange in Minvalai village is also a signatory to the agreement.The Isha Foundation, in association with partners, will organise mobile health clinics in the villages of the State under the free `Mobile Health Clinic Project.'

To begin with, the programme will be implemented in the villages in Thiruvallur district.

These clinics with doctors and paramedical staff will offer free diagnosis and treatment. The mobile clinics will be enabled with teleconnectivity to provide online consultation to patients.

The SRMC's role will be to provide technical support, including doctor/nurse and telemedicine consultation by linking the mobile van to its telemedicine centre. It will also provide short- term training to the medical and paramedical staff.

The project will also utilise Minvalai's Village Internet Information Centres in Tiruvallur district in association with the SRMC Telemedicine Centre.
