Exhibition on modern Andhra painting

HYDERABAD: A special exhibition on modern Andhra painting, organised by Salar Jung Museum in collaboration with INTACH on the museum premises, was opened to the public on Wednesday.

Around 83 digital prints from private collections, art galleries and national geographic magazine have been displayed at the exhibition. Works like Birth of Skanda, Illusion of Akrura, Krishna Leela, Krishnadevaraya battle of Raichur, Treading Rice, Religious Integration and Prosperity of a Village were some of the exhibits belonging to 1880 and 1950 that were displayed highlighting different mythological themes, media and techniques.

Museum board member and INTACH (State chapter convener) Sravan Kumar, after inaugurating the exhibition, called for preserving monuments so that people would know about their heritage importance.

He said a campaign should be launched to preserve rich manuscripts for the benefit of researchers.
