Bangalore: It is Big Bang time again; not a celestial event, but the annual awards for excellence in advertising instituted by the Advertising Club, Bangalore. On Friday, the Big Bang awards will recognise and reward creativity in different aspects of advertising. It enjoys corporate sponsorship from leading brands. Over 1,000 advertising, marketing and media professionals will attend the event. The winning entries are kept confidential and the evening sees tense moments among agency executives hoping to bag a few awards for their campaigns. "There is more to these awards than just trophies. They are meant to encourage creative talent. Today, the Indian marketplace is opening up to global players. We believe these awards are a catalyst in the growth of our advertising standards," says Arvind Kumar, president of the Advertising Club, Bangalore. The professionals consider the awards as a benchmark to set standards. "We have included many categories to reward every aspect of advertising. The Ad Club think-tank every year revisits categories and changes or tweaks categories in keeping with types of advertising," Mr. Kumar said.
