Australian visas online

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: An Australian holiday will soon be just a few mouse clicks away, with the Australian High Commission introducing the electronic tourist visa — e676 — for Indian holidaymakers.

Australian Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs Amanda Vanstone said the facility would provide access to an easier visa application system. Indians would be able to apply over the Internet through an approved agent for the visa.

"Work is on to provide this improved access in the last quarter of 2006. Access will initially be granted via approved travel agents only, with a broader roll-out to more agents over time," Ms. Vanstone said.
