Three police teams descend on city
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
Special police teams of Ajmer, Bangalore and Varanasi police had arrived in the city and been camping for the past few days investigating into different cases.
Two months ago, the police intercepted a lorry and found that sophisticated firearms concealed beneath marble stones were being supplied to an alleged Hizbul operative Mujeeb in Hyderabad.
Driver Yaseen confessed to the police that he was transporting the marble stones at the instance of Mujeeb to Hyderabad.
The Ajmer police met some persons lodged in Cherlapally jail in this connection, it is learnt.
They reportedly sought to know if the Hizbul network had spread to Ajmer or seizure of the arms was an isolated incident.
Probe continues
Meanwhile, the Bangalore police continued their search for possible links in connection with the terrorist attack at the Indian Institute of Science.
They too met some persons in the jail who were earlier arrested on charge of being operatives of Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence.
The Varanasi police, whose request to interrogate a couple of persons arrested in the Task Force office blast case was rejected by a local court here, had decided to secure a production warrant for the duo from a court in Varanasi.
