Thiruvananthapuram: A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed when a car knocked down his vehicle near Kochulloor on the National Highway 47 on Tuesday night. The traffic police identified the deceased as Rohit. G. Nair, an employee of a private telecom operator. He is a resident of Pulari, S.S. Kovil Road, Thampanoor. The car that was involved in the accident is yet to be identified. The traffic police have registered a case.
Alleged assault
The police have registered a case in connection with the alleged assault of a Class I student, S.V. Harikrishnan, by his teacher, Majidha, during tuition at her house on Tuesday. The police said six-and-a-half year-old Harikrishnan was assaulted by Majidha while teaching Mathematics. The boy was admitted to a private hospital following swelling on his legs.
Arrested
The police have arrested Mohan alias Chandu, 38, wanted in an abkari case registered in Nemom police station in 1993. The police said Chandu was produced before the court in Neyattinkkara and remanded to judicial custody.
Tourist dead
The body of Satyendra Pratap Singh, 35, tourist from Uttar Pradesh, who died while swimming at KTDC's Hotel Samudra, Vellar, at the Kovalam beach resort on Tuesday night, was flown to Kanpur on Wednesday. The police said the tourist had died of a cardiac arrest.
