ANANTAPUR: The Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham (APRS) affiliated to Communist Party of India has urged the Agriculture Insurance Corporation of India to settle the claims of farmers who insured their groundnut crop in the district during the last kharif season by the month-end. The farmers' body has decided to take up an agitation in April if the insurance company fails to settle the claims early. Talking to newspersons here on Thursday, State president of APRS K. Ramakrishna also demanded that the State Government pay the crop loss compensation to the farmers who had suffered crop loss by not insuring their crop during the kharif 2005 before Ugadi festival. They would take up protests on the two issues after the Telugu New Year, if the Government fails to settle them by then.
