ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China will start a bus service from June 1 to facilitate people travel between Gilgit and Kashgar. After this, Pakistan would have bus or rail links with all its neighbours India, Iran, Afghanistan and China.According to the formal protocol, one bus will run from each side on a daily basis that will travel between Sust and Tashkorgan, bordering the two countries. Each side will launch another bus service thrice a week between Kashgar, Sust, Khunjrab and Gilgit. The report said during the talks, the two sides emphasised the importance of the Karakarum Highway (KKH) that serves as a "Friendship bridge" between the two countries. They also acknowledged that Pakistan could act as a transit facility giving China access to Central Asian markets and developing energy sources. It said the officials reiterated their commitment for early rehabilitation and up-gradation of the highway. The report said development of road transport system carried a special significance, when the two countries are engaged in consolidating their economic ties.
