ALAPPUZHA: The Samasta Kerala Sunni Students' Federation has said that democratic political parties should distance themselves from extremist Muslim organisations. At a press conference here on Thursday, federation's working secretary Nazar Faizi Koodathai said political parties should treat these organisations similar to the way they did Hindu extremist organisations. He said Muslim extremism would only help strengthen Hindu extremism. The federation was opposing Muslim extremists, as it was the responsibility of Muslims to do so. Similarly, Hindu organisations should oppose extremist organisations in their religion. He said the federation was organising State-wide campaigns to wean away Muslim youth from extremist ideologies. Zone-wise meetings would be held in the coming days as part of the campaign, he added. The south zone meeting would be held here on March 31 and April 1. Nearly 2,000 delegates would participate in a camp in connection with the event. Nearly 25,000 people would participate in the meeting, he added.
