Sirsa: Haryana BJP president Ganeshi Lal on Thursday alleged that the ruling Congress was spoiling social amity in the state by adopting a `divide and rule' policy. Reacting on the issue of Hansi Butana Link Canal being popularised by the Hooda Government, the state BJP president criticised the Congress party for their failure to get due share of water for Haryana and trying to divert the attention of the public from SYL. He alleged that about Rs 75 crores of public money has already been spent on it but Haryana has not yet received its due share of water. He said that out of 35 MAF Haryana received only 14 MAF water from Bhakhra Beas Management Board (BBMB) Prof Ganeshi Lal made a dent at the Pubjab Government saying that they are conspiring to have control over BBMB and bring about changes in the provisions made in the National Water Policy. He warned that if they succeed in this conspiracy Haryana would suffer acute water shortage as the latter has failed to plead their case in this respect. He also questioned the discretion about spending crores of money on a project when the objections raised by Punjab, Rajasthan and BMB have yet not been addressed. He said the BJP was in favour of ensuring sufficient irrigation water supply to all the parts of the State but were not for providing irrigation water to any one part at the cost of the other. The BJP leader attacked Congress government in Haryana for worsening law and order situation in State. He said that rapes and murders reported daily are a testimony to it. He also mocked at the Chief Minister and DGP condoling the death of a businessman in Kaithal saying that condolences cannot bring back the dead.
