A treat for lovers of Yakshagana

A RICH feast of Yakshagana is awaiting the lovers of the traditional art on March 26 at the Ravindra Kalakshetra. Karnataka Kala Darshini, Bangalore, which has been making serious efforts to promote the traditional art, has organised Yaksha Sambhrama 2006.

The programme includes a dialogue and demonstration on "Bannada Veshada Vaividhya" from 10.30 a.m.; staging of Veera Vrishasena (Badagu Thittu) Yakshagana, 4 p.m.; Brahma Kapala (Badagu Thittu), 5 p.m.; conferring Dr. Shivarama Karanth Awards on Yakshagana doyens Kumble Sundar Rao and Chittani Ramachandra Hegde and finally Kurukshetra (Thenku Thittu). Noted bhagawats - Kolgi Keshav Hegde, L.N. Kalchar, Vishwanatha Shetty and Venugopala Nagara will add colour to the performance being staged by Chittani Ramachandra Hegde and his troupe.
