BANGALORE: Four persons were killed in as many road accidents in and around the city since Wednesday night.
The police said a Hyderabad-bound bus rammed a motorcycle killing the motorist Umesh of Bettadalsur on the spot around 11.30 p.m. near Hunasamaranahalli in Yelahanka police station limits. Following this, an angry public damaged the bus' glasses. The driver, who fled after the accident, surrendered before the Yelahanka police. The Yelahanka traffic police have registered a case and seized the bus. In another accident, Mani (45), a lorry driver from Tamil Nadu, died after a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus knocked him down on Bangalore-Mysore Highway, off Kengeri, around 8 a.m. on Thursday. Mani had parked his lorry near a check post and was walking towards it when the bus hit him. The Byatarayanapura traffic police have registered a case. In yet another incident on Bangalore-Mysore Highway, Lingaraju (21) was killed after a lorry rammed his motorcycle in Channaptana police station limits in Bangalore Rural district in the early hours of Thursday. Lingaraju, a resident of Deepanjalinagar here, was returning to the city from Mysore. Dinesh, who was riding pillion with him, was injured. He is in hospital and his condition is said to be critical. A man aged around 45 was killed in a hit-and-run case in Yeshwanthpur. The accident occurred around 7 a.m. on Thursday near Metro, the police said. The Yeshwanthpur traffic police have registered a case.
