BMP budget today

BANGALORE:
Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Taxation and Finance Lalitha Srinivas Gowda will present the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's (BMP) budget for 2006-2007 at noon on Friday.
This year's budget has an outlay of Rs. 2,100 crores.
Sources in the BMP told The Hindu on Thursday that the ruling Congress in the BMP, which had a challenging task in preparing the "election year" budget, has included several infrastructure projects and welfare measures for the urban poor.
Though the budget outlay was initially put at Rs. 2,284.39 crores, the sources said the ruling party members and the BMP officials, who held a meeting on Thursday, reduced it. The revised estimates now stand at Rs. 2,100 crores, the sources added.
