Computer Science paper `tricky'

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Students of Class XII appearing at the Computer Science examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education on Thursday complained that the paper was tough.

Complaining that some questions were confusing, students said a two-mark question (1-E) was "very tricky" and most students opted not to attempt it.

"The paper was set for above average students and the pattern of the question paper was different from previous years. It was a paper that could have been solved only by students who have studied every concept in the textbook. And though the two-mark question (1-E) was tricky it wasn't a wrong question," said Bhawna Sachdev, a Computer Science teacher at Holy Child School.

Computer Science student Meril Anthony of Holy Child School said: "It was a difficult and confusing paper and while the theory questions were relatively simpler, some questions were tricky. The difficulty level of this paper can be compared to the question paper that student attempted last year."

Answer-sheets damaged

A "handful" of answer-sheets of the Class X Board examinations were "damaged" in a fire which broke out due to a short-circuit at Ludlow Castle School No. 1 in North Delhi early on Thursday morning.

The Central Board of Secondary Education said the fire that was reported around 6-45 a.m. damaged some answer-sheets of the Science and Technology paper for which the students had appeared. However, quick action by the guards deployed there prevented much damage.

Following the incident, CBSE despatched a team to the spot to evaluate and assess the damage caused and following its report it would decide on the future course of action.
