Youth Congress volunteers court arrest

Pondicherry: Around 200 volunteers of the Pondicherry State Youth Congress committee were arrested at Pattanikadai junction here on Friday when they held a demonstration condemning the Opposition leader, L. K. Advani. They also burnt an effigy of Mr. Advani.

The arrested included the president of the Youth Congress and Chairman of the Pondicherry Market Committee K. Pandian.

Earlier a batch of volunteers of Pondicherry State Mahila Congress (women's wing of the Congress) held a meeting at the PCC office under the chairperson of the party, Jeanne Pourani.

The chairperson of the Pondicherry State Women's Commission Ms. Kamalani also participated.
