Meet to delve into role of entrepreneurship in economy

One-day seminar to be inaugurated by IIM-K Director on Monday

KOZHIKODE: The Commerce Department of the St. Joseph's College, Devagiri, would organise a national seminar on `New Initiatives in Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development' at Hotel Hyson here on March 27.

Talking to reporters here on Friday, head of the department of Commerce of the College P.I. John and coordinator, organising committee, Philip K.Antony, said that Dr. Krishna Kumar, director, Indian Institute of Management-Kozhikode (IIM-K) would inaugurate the seminar. The UGC is extending financial assistance for the seminar.

The seminar was aiming at appreciating the critical role of entrepreneurship in the economic growth and development of the country and the need to promote and sustain small enterprises.

It would identify the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in the backdrop of globalisation and liberalisation and suggest some strategies for enterprises to survive global competition.

It also aims to present entrepreneurship as a career option to the youth of the country.

C.S.Dikshit, Christ College Institute of Management, Bangalore, would talk on `Developing entrepreneurship to explore emerging business opportunities.' Dr.Saji Gopinath, associate professor, IIM-K would talk on `Venture Capital and Technopreneurship,' while, Lambert Joseph, director, Small Industries Service Institute (SISI), Thrissur would talk on `Cluster approach for the development of small and medium scale enterprises.'

Participants
