News Analysis
Referring to the report "Amend Hindu Marriage Act" (March 23, 2006), a reader has doubts about the amount of compensation the court had ordered the appellant to pay (in the Naveen Kohli versus Neelu Kohli case). We had said that the trial court had directed Naveen Kohli to pay Rs. 5 lakh to his wife, but the key detail left out after editing was that a bench of the Supreme Court has disposed of the appeal after directing him to pay Rs. 25 lakh as permanent maintenance. The AP report "Burns hopeful of making convincing case in Congress" (March 24, 2006) was wrong in saying that the Nuclear Suppliers Group is an assembly of 35 nations. Currently, there are 45 supplier-states in the NSG. Its guidelines govern the export of material, reactors, dual-use items and technologies designed or prepared for nuclear uses. In "High profile releases" (The Hindu-Magazine, March 19, 2006, page 2), a box item that accompanied the main article "Going Global", the titles of the two books mentioned are incorrect. Mushirul Hasan's "Nehru: Personal Histories" should be "The Nehrus: Personal Histories", while Shrabani Basu's "Spy Princess: The Life of Noor Hayat Khan" should be "Spy Princess: The Life of Noor Inayat Khan".
