BANGALORE: Canara Bank and Karnataka State Police will contest the final of the Travancore Cup hockey tournament here on Saturday. In the semifinals played at the Hockey Stadium here on Friday, Canara Bank defeated Hindustan Aeronautics Limited 3-1 and KSP ousted Maharatta Light Infantry 4-0. Canara Bank was in complete dominance in the first half. Somanna scored two quick goals in the 15th and 16th minutes and Krishna Reddy sounded the boards in the 23rd minute. HAL rallied in the second half with M.B. Chinappa scoring in the 44th minute but a number of chances went abegging after that as HAL crashed out. In the second semifinal, KSP was too good for Maharatta Light Infantry. Lakshman Rao opened the scoring off a penalty corner in the ninth minute and Manjunath Jadhav increased the lead in the 39th. Chetan Kumar scored off a penalty corner in the 50th minute and Manjunath Jadhav slotted in his second in the 63rd minute. The final will be played at 4 p.m.
Sadhashivanagar Club prevails
Sadhashivanagar Club and Reliance Club scored hard fought victories in the Century Club's inter-club badminton championship for the Garuda Cup here. Sadhashivanagar Club defeated KSCA 3-2 and Relaiance Club prevailed over Century Club by an identical margin.
KSBA `A' and
`B' post wins
KSBA `A' and KSBA `B' teams posted easy wins in the KSCA Club House non-medallist inter-club doubles snooker championship here. KSBA `A' defeated Vijayanagar Club 2-0 while KSBA `B' beat Indira Nagar Club 2-0.
Hosur Chess Academy tournament
