CHENNAI: Anna University's semester examinations will start on May 15, just a day after the completion of the formal process for the Assembly election. One big concern for final year students, especially those with job offers, is how they will be able to keep their schedule with employers. Most of the big recruiters, especially information technology companies, had given a joining schedule between June and July. When contacted, placement officers in Velammal Engineering College, St. Joseph's Engineering College and Rajalakshmi Engineering College said they had received e-mail enquiries from companies on when the fresh recruits could join work. "We are informing the companies about the present position. The final semester examinations will end somewhere in mid-June, and hence the results are expected only in July," a placement officer said. Enquiries with some HR professionalsand also colleges revealed that some IT companies were agreeable to the students joining them after providing a course completion certificate and their mark sheets for the seven semesters. Once the results of the final semester are published, they could then present their provisional certificates and final mark sheet.
