ONGOLE: The car in which Superintendent of Police N. Balasubramanyam was travelling knocked down a cyclist at Medarametla village in Prakasam district on Friday. The cyclist escaped with minor injuries but the car was badly damaged. Mr. Balasubramanyam, who had gone to Hyderabad three days ago on official work, was returning home in his personal car when the mishap occurred. As the car was moving at 80 km per hour speed, the cyclist suddenly entered the road from a sideline near Medarametla village. The cyclist, Koteswara Rao (40), a drama artiste, fell down on the bonnet and suffered minor injuries. But the windshield of the car was smashed and the bumper was badly damaged. Mr. Balasubramanyam brought the victim to Ongole in another vehicle for medical examination. He was sent home after ascertaining that he had not suffered any major injury.
