PALAKKAD: Nearly 9,200 officials will be on duty for the Assembly elections in April in the district. Nearly 7,200 of them will be on polling duty and 2,000 for counting work. There will be 1,632 polling booths, 11 counting centres and 11 distribution centres in the district.
Booths in remote areas
Special arrangements for setting up polling booths in hilly and remote areas, such as Attappady, Parambikulam, Nelliampathy and Akamalavaram, is being made to enable tribal people to vote. Officials in the Election Department said applications for enrolling voters would be accepted till March 30 and the electoral rolls published on April 7.
