CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said here on Friday that no Congress MLA was enjoying any office of profit. Mr. Hooda was talking to media persons shortly after presiding over a meeting of the Congress Legislative Party. The CLP members unanimously passed a resolution dedicating themselves to the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and affirmed that they were committed to her "ideas and ideals."
CLP passes resolution
The resolution stated that the Gandhi-Nehru family's record of selfless service and sacrifice was a beacon light for highest standards of public life. "Mrs. Sonia Gandhi set new standards of political morality, when she graciously declined to accept the office of Prime Minister despite having been unanimously elected as leader of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA). In political and public life, sacrifice of Mrs.Sonia Gandhi was unmatched, unparalleled and laid down a new path of service above sacrifice," it added. It further noted that in the last one year of UPA regime, India had speeded ahead on path of all round progress and prosperity. However, forces of division, destruction and communalism were unable to accept "India's march to truly become an all encompassing progressive society". They had launched a sinister conspiracy through a whisper campaign in the media. "By setting an unparalleled example of resigning from Parliament and as chairperson of the National Advisory Council, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi has once again proved that selfless service, dedication to highest standards of public morality and keeping self-subservient to the interests of poor and downtrodden is a way of life with Nehru-Gandhi family and the Indian National Congress... Her sacrifice will go a long way in establishing a new value system and morality in political life. The entire country stands behind her today. We believe that only she will steer the country on the path of progress by demolishing the demons of mis-information and uncertainty," the resolution added. Mr. Hooda said that the moral values were continuously deteriorating but Mrs. Gandhi had set an example by quitting the offices which were not of profit. He added that the State Legislative Assembly had also passed a similar resolution appreciating her decision.
