MANGALORE: The Dakshina Kannada unit of AHINDA (Alpasankyatharu, Hindulisalpatta Jathigalu matthu Dalitharu) will be launched on Sunday. Senior AHINDA leaders are expected to participate in the launch function. Announcing this at a press conference here on Friday, executive president of AHINDA Lolaksha said this is a new beginning in the district as it (AHINDA) is not a political movement but a social movement. Elevating the social standing of minorities, backward classes and Dalits is its only objective. AHINDA has no political ideology but those working with political parties who identify themselves with the objective of AHINDA can join the movement. A preliminary meeting on Sunday will discuss the various aspects of the socio-economic milieu of three classes of people in the movement. It will primarily focus on their empowerment. Asked if it will rope in any political personality to give fillip to the movement, Mr. Lolaksha said it was a movement propelled by the people. Sunday's meeting will be attended by the central committee president K. Mukudappa, executive president S. Lingaiah, general secretary Sayyad Saifulla and former MLC K. Kamalakara Gokarna.
