REACTION: Students exchanging views after writing the II PU examination in Mangalore on Friday.
MANGALORE: The second year pre-university examination got off to a smooth start in the 34 examination centres in Dakshina Kannada district on Friday. No case of malpractice was reported from any of the centres, K. Sheelavathi, Deputy Director, Department of Pre-University Education and Vocational Training, has said. In all, 20,508 students are appearing for the examination. As many as 18 examination centres in Mangalore taluk, five in Bantwal taluk, four in Sullia and Puttur taluks and three in Belthangady taluk have been set up. Ban orders have been imposed in a 200-metre radius of the examination centres. All photocopying centres near the examination centres have been directed to cease functioning 30 minutes before and after the examination timings. The Superintendent of Police has been vested with the responsibility of protecting the question papers and its transportation to the examination centres. Students have been issued hall tickets bearing their photographs and signature attested by their institution heads.
