Arms dealer threatens to sue Advani
New Delhi:
Arms dealer Abishek Verma, in the eye of a storm on allegations of payoffs in the multi-billion dollar Scorpene submarine deal, on Friday threatened to file defamation suits against Bharatiya Janata Party leader L. K. Advani and NDA convener George Fernandes for making charges against him on "fabricated evidence."
"I have nothing to do with Scorpene deal," he told NDTV here, claiming that "Advani, Fernandes and Yashwant Sinha are trying to target me to make Scorpene deal an election issue."
"I intend to sue these leaders as they are making irresponsible and defamatory statements based on fabricated documents," Mr. Verma said. He said he had filed a suit against a magazine for carrying charges against him based on "forged documents."
Mr. Verma said arms dealers, who had lost contracts, were trying to defame other companies.
