NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K. Rahman Khan said on Friday that political parties should not get entangled in blaming one another and suggested that political leaders should have the courage to introduce changes and improvements in the existing system. Addressing a seminar on "Matching Expectations in the Field of Governance" organised by the Alumni Association of the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Mr. Khan highlighted the brighter side of the work transacted in Parliament that almost 80 per cent of it was serious and productive work that requires appreciation and publicity. He lamented that most of the time only sensational news got publicity while serious efforts made by Parliamentarians went unnoticed. In his presidential address, Karnataka Governor T.N. Chaturvedi stressed that the purpose of governance today was the realisation of people's expectations and ultimately it was the civil servant who was shouldering different and divergent responsibilities. MPs Arjun Sen Gupta and Santosh Bagrodia and Rajya Sabha Secretary-General Yogendra Narian also took part in the discussion.
