He attacked a sub-inspector for refusing permission to watch film shooting

CHENNAI: The ICF police arrested K. Sundar, working as a guard in the Railways, on attempt to murder charges.

Police said Sundar wanted to view a film shooting on the ICF stadium premises but was refused permission by Inspector K. Ramachandran. A wordy duel then ensued.

Sundar returned to the venue later and demanded to be allowed inside. Mr. Ramachandran refused again and asked him to go away. Sundar then attacked the police officer with a broken bottle, following which he was arrested. Mr. Ramachandran sustained injuries on his hand and forehead.

A quarrel between two kulfi-sellers on Thursday night ended in the murder of one of them.

Police said Shabeer (17) went to Karthigeyan Salai in the Peravallur police limits around 11.30 p.m. to sell kulfi. Another vendor, Prabhu (19), objected to this.

As they were quarrelling, Prabu took a knife from his tricycle and slit Shabeer's throat. He was rushed to the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Peravallur police arrested Prabu, and he was remanded to custody.
