HYDERABAD: MCH Commissioner Sanjay Jaju said that the revised common building rules issued recently were user-friendly giving design freedom to landowners and keeping a check on violations and unauthorised constructions. He expressed the views at a meeting to review the revised common building rules issued through G.O. No. 86 recently. He said the landowners could now make optimum use of the land. He asked the officials to take note of the revised rules and get clarifications of any while attending to their duties. The Officer on Special Duty, S. Viswanatham, who explained the G.O. in detail, said the earlier stipulations were cumbersome with too many parameters for regulating and controlling building activities. Now the rules were simplified. The changes, he said were necessary due to the changes in building technologies, rapid urbanisation and certain shortcomings in the earlier rules. Senior officials were present at the meeting.
