Train reservation system shut down

The computerised passenger reservation system at Secunderabad will be shut down for maintenance works from 6 p.m. on Sunday to 6 a.m. on Monday.

The current day booking counters, enquiry counters, passenger operated enquiry terminals and the Interactive Voice Response System of the South Central Railway will not be available for the public during the said period. An SCR spokesperson regretted the inconvenience to the public.

Publicity material removed

The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) on Friday removed what it termed unauthorised publicity material displayed in and around Ameerpet area, said Additional Commissioner N.V.S.Reddy.

He said the job of collecting taxes on these displays was outsourced to a private agency, which serves demand notices indicating the approved MCH rates. This covers publicity material such as glow signboards, arches, balloons, brand names, temporary shop attachment boards and mobile advertisers.

Kannada play on March 31

Kannada Natya Ranga's play `Gampara Gumpu' will be staged at Gandhi Bhavan on March 31 and not as reported in these columns. "Our own artistes will stage the hilarious Kannada drama," said N. Krishna Murthy Rao, president, Kannada Natya Ranga, in a statement here on Friday.
