WE ARE WITH YOU: City Congress president Dronamraju Srinivas administering a pledge to party activists to support Sonia Gandhi's decision to quit, in Visakhapatnam on Friday.
VISAKHAPATNAM: The City Congress Committee adopted a resolution seeking the return of AICC president Sonia Gandhi to the Lok Sabha from Rae Bareli with a thumping majority and acceptance of the post of Prime Minister by her. Chairing an emergency meeting of the party on Friday, City Congress president Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao who moved the resolution, recalled the events preceding the resignation of Ms. Gandhi to the Lok Sabha and NAC and blamed it on the BJP. He administered a pledge expressing solidarity with the AICC president. APCC member Qureshi said that during any crisis, Ms. Gandhi by her actions always enhanced her own image and that of the party and stood for moral values. Earlier, treasurer V. Tatajee welcomed the gathering. State Warehousing Corporation chairman Satthi Ramakrishna Reddy, City Youth Congress president G.V. Ravi Raju, Mahila Congress president P. Pushpanjali and others were present.
Advani effigy burnt
Earlier, in the morning, Youth Congress workers burnt an effigy of BJP leader L.K. Advani and staged a `rasta roko' at the RTC Complex junction blaming the BJP and NDA for driving Ms. Gandhi to take the step.
